Qualifications

 Katherine has remained committed to the principle of ongoing learning throughout her career. Below is an outline of the formal education Katherine has completed:

  • Bachelor of Social Work (Hons) at University of Newcastle in 2007,
  • Grad. Dip. in International Development at Flinders University, 2010 
  • Double degree in Masters of Public Health and Masters of Health Management at University of NSW, 2018,
  • Advanced Certificate in Couple and Family Therapy at the Family Systems Insititute, Sydney, 2022.


Katherine holds professional membership and accreditations with the following professional organisations and Government Departments:

  • Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), 
  • Clinical Family Therapist accreditation with the Australian Association of Family Therapy (AAFT),
  • Accredited counsellor with the Victims Services scheme and the Families and Friends of Missing Persons Service within Victims Services NSW, DCJ.  


Over the last two years, Katherine has been working on a commitment to contribute to the development of the sector more broadly through teaching and presenting. Examples of this commitment include:

  • Presenting at the Family Systems Insitute End of Year Symposium 2022
  • Poster at the Inaugural Australian Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Conference 2023
  • Casual Academic, University of Newcastle 2023


Katherine is engaged in ongoing learning through the post graduate program with the Family Systems Insitute and clinical consultation seminars with the Centre for the Study of Natural Systems and the Family based in Houston, Texas since 2021. Both of these programs are facilitated by leaders in the family therapy sector both within Australia and internationally. Katherine prioritises reflective practice and engagement with current thinking in the family therapy sector ensuring Katherine upholds her commitment to innovative, accountable and meaningful practice.
